How does water move around the world? Where does it stop? where is it stored? Is there ever more water added or taken away from this system or is it just held in different places at different times? We are of course talking about the water cycle, something most of you will be familiar with, but we now need to think of this cycle as a system, with inputs, outputs, stores and flows.
